ABUJAAs the President of the 10th Nigerian Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio turns 61 today, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, Director-General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic studies has congratulated the President, extolling his great contributions towards democratic governance, while wishing him well. In a statement released to Afrikanwatch earlier today by the Institute, it reads:

“On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, and Staff of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), I extend warm felicitations to the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, on his 61st birthday.”

“In less than six months since assuming the role of Chairman of the National Assembly, you have demonstrated a unique commitment to nationalism, leadership, inclusivity, and the overall progress and welfare of our great nation.”

“It is, therefore, not a surprise that through the Institute, your enviable disposition led to what would go into the history books as the first convergence of former National Assembly presiding officers with the leadership of the 10th Assembly and Senators on the need to have a discussion on the fiscal policy and tax reforms.”

“The first of its kind initiative featured meaningful discussions involving prominent figures from various fields, leading to resolutions aimed at enhancing the economy, I have no doubt, this would bring about the Renewed Hope Agenda promised Nigerians by President Bola Tinubu.”

“Your exceptional capacity in coordinating the diverse tendencies within the National Assembly for stability is commendable, and it is exciting to anticipate more achievements in the future.”

Prof. Sulaiman

“As you celebrate this milestone, I pray that Almighty God keeps you in sound health and grants you special grace to continue serving Him and mankind for many more years.”
