“The severe condition Nigeria is today, is as a result of bad governance and the recycling of old bourgeoisies, who have traces of corruption. The citizens on their own are docile and helpless. They have been impoverished to the level of slavery, and seems not to fight their battles.”

Why should we accept that Nigeria is cursed? We are never cursed, we repeat Nigeria as a country is never cursed, rather it is a land of milk and honey, with unprecedented resources, managed by greedy men and women, whose conscience seems to have gone into extinction.
Last week on TVC, a Military Veteran, Dr. Roy Okhidievbie had discussed the post hunger and #endbadgovernance protest. He had captured the true identity of a sovereign nation, pin pointing it to lie in its constitution and institutions with total disrespect to sycophancy and internal and external disgruntle elements.
He regretted that most Nigerian politicians have turned the country’s sovereignty into child’s play by desecrating its values meant to give credence and respect in the country’s constitution.
Yes, there is no need to debate his points, as it is in the blood of most Nigerian politicians to get whatever they want through the backdoor of the law, killing the confidence and sanctity of the ordinary citizens. We were also impressed when we saw Mr. President received The Patriots at the Presidential villa where he pledged to look into the request of the Country’s patriots on constitutional review.
But meanwhile, we agree with Dr. Okhidievbie on his views, that the strength of a country lies in its institutions, majorly, the Judiciary, Executives and the Legislatives, with total obedience and respect to the constitution. We also will add, no nation survives on hypocritical tendencies, never!
The Veteran captured our mind when he reiterated, the strength of any country depends also on its agencies, couple with the leadership of the military of territorial integrity both water, sea and land. Is any of these working?
“Tell me all these things I have mentioned, which of them we respect. Military that is supposed to be the one you should be talking to but you are talking to the international influence. It is your military that is supposed to look, but the same military are accused daily in our country”
He continued by lamenting:
“Political influence has removed all the advantages of every General in Nigeria… Why is it that with the hope of going into retirement, you must try to steal something to favour yourself and your family? Right now, promotion and respect for military hierarchy in Nigeria has been appraised away. If you talk about sovereignty, what you will use to uphold that sovereignty, it is your constitution and institutions with your security agencies. The police are suffering, they are used as hand bag carriers for our elites in Nigeria. The DSS have no input in intelligence gathering because when they arrest the people, the judicial process to decree penalty that exist in our constitution is truncated by a phone call; somebody calls and that case is thrown away.”
Speaking on the love and patriotism he had when in the army, he said:
“When I joined the military. the Nigerian constitution was a do or die situation for us. Many of the regulars and my superiors today were pained because Nigeria should focus on strengthening the institutions and securities agencies, there should be a trajectory from service to retirement and that will attract all patriotic citizens. Before you can see citizens come out and call for a military rule that means they are instigated if it is not something that is popular.”
Roy however, wants the Federal government to deepen sovereignty by strengthening its institutions through the rule of law while putting their eyes on the agencies.
We need not to debate what Dr. Roy had detailed in that interview, but it is clear that Nigerians are going through severe pains of hunger, anger and frustration, which should be the priority of various governments from local to state and federal. That is what should be expected, not blame game, as such will not solve the current woe in the country, caused by former president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, a disastrous regime. So, the severe condition Nigeria is today, is as a result of bad governance and the recycling of old bourgeoisies, who have traces of corruption. The citizens on their own are docile and helpless. They have been impoverished to the level of slavery, and seems not to fight their battles.
Certainly, Nigeria must survive, irrespective of her challenges, it must not die, just as the legendary immortal Sunny Okposo reminded us in his hit song, which way Nigeria, that many years after independence, Nigeria still find it hard to start, how long shall we be patient till we reach the promise land, lets save Nigeria, so Nigeria won’t die, which way Nigeria
