LAGOS-The Rector of Yaba College of Technology, the cradle of higher learning in Nigeria and the Poly technic of first choice, Engr Obafemi Omokungbe will this Saturday be conferred with Ondo State@46 Educationist of the Year Award. The award organized by NTA Akure in collaboration with Groundbreaker Resources Company, a public relation firm will hold at the Dome International Center, Alagbaka, Akure.
According to Barr. Adekunle Ayegbe, the award coordinating consultant disclosed that Engr Omokungbe was nominated for the award because of his landmark achievement since he took over the driving seat of the first tertiary institution in Nigeria. He has changed the face of Yabatech and transformed the institution back to what it used to be in the 70s and 80s
Speaking to our correspondent on the award, head of public relations, Joe Ejiofor said the award is most deserving considering the impact the rector has made since 2018 when he mounted the leadership saddle of the institution. Ejiofor disclosed that by webometric ranking. Yabatech was number 8 by 2018, but today, the college is ranked number one Polytechnic in Nigeria. This he attributed to evidence of Omokungbe’s leadership and astute administrative style. Classrooms, laboratory studio, hostels and the campus road networks in the main and Epe have been rehabilitated and made functional to ensure proper teaching and learning in the college.
