LAGOS-Announcing the current position of Polytechnics ranking by Webometric is the Chairman, Governing Board of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Professor Modupe Adelabu, who on his visit to Yaba College of Technology few weeks ago, noted that the College’s uninterrupted academic calendar, including upgraded infrastructure and peaceful co-existence contributed to the ranking of the Institution from its previous 7th position to 3rd.
Adelabu, who was a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State expressed satisfaction, noting that the administration of the College’s Rector, Engr. Femi Omokungbe is of no doubt, a fruitful one. He made this assertion during inspection of the ongoing Tetfund projects in the College, and charged the management to continue to capitalize on the recent development—to be ranked number one.
The NBTE Chairman said that the College has produced personalities that are making waves both in Nigeria and abroad, especially in the area of accounting profession. ‘This ‘has been possible due to the quality of staff in the arsenal of the College’ she added.
Adelabu, therefore implored the management to invest more on skills development, up to the stage of exporting skills and not importing skills, likewise to invest more in technical education and in Engineering. ‘Yes, Yabatech should be the first point of call when looking for quality Engineers’
In his remark, Omokungbe expressed appreciation to Adelabu for assisting the College to access Tetfund-bringing about intervention development.
Highlight of the visit include inspection of the Construction of Comfort Station; Classrooms, Offices and Highway Laboratories, Rehabilitation and Refurbishment of Engineering Block, Construction of Lecture Theatre Building for School of Management and Business Studies (SMBS), and Construction of 2 Storey Building for SMBS. She was impressed with the level of the work at all the projects she visited.
However, according to 2019 Webometric ranking, 2019, Yabatech was placed second while Auchi Polytechnic came first, federal Polytechnic Ilaro, 3rd, The Polytechnic Ibadan, fourth, Edo state Polytechnic, fifth, Lagos state Polytechnic , 6th, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, 7th, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, eight, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, ninth, and Kaduna Polytechnic, tenth.
