LAGOS-The Board of Trustees (BOTs), Yaba College of Technology Alumni Association, Yaba, Lagos has appointed Mr. Tunji Makinde as the  Alumni Electoral Committee Chairman. Meanwhile, in a letter dated July 24, 2023 sent to the Chairman and its committee members, sited by Afrikanwatch Network, titled, Appointment Into Yabatech Alumni Election Committee 2023, reads:

“It is my pleasure to inform you that the Board of Trustees has considered and approved your appointment as a member of the Election Committee to conduct election of officers into the National Executive Council of the Association. Please note that by this appointment, the Board reposes a lot of confidence in you and other members of the Committee to conduct a free and fair election for the Association”.

The letter however captured names of the committee, as Mr. Tunji Makinde, Chairman, C. M. Orgu ,  Secretary. Other are, Adesegun Sule Koiki , Niyi Osibemekun, Olanrewaju Moroundiya, Mrs. Toun Aderele, Mrs Blessing Okoro, Ita Bassey, Ayo Dada, Kayode Ashiwaju Dada, Ogunbanjo Abimbola Yussuf .

The BOT through its Secretary, Barr.(Mrs) Clara Adetuyi advised  the committee to ensure inclusiveness and open mindedness while working with the election guidelines already approved by the board and come out with the election time table and other necessary groundwork to conduct free and acceptable election within 60 days from date of announcement of election timetable to members.

In another development, the Committee was officially inaugurated via Whatsapp online video call led by the chairman of the Board, Wing Codr, S.O. Ajayi, Retd, who admonished the Committee to ensure creditability, professionalism and fairness to all contestants, as corroborated by other members of the Board, Prof. Afolabi Lasisi, Pa. Jerome Elaiho, Barr. Adetuyi, even as  Mr. Makinde assured the board of inclusiveness and thoroughbred election with the already approved guidelines. He however thanked the BOTs, while reassuring the Commitment and ability of the committee to work within the timeframe and pull out other measures that will enable potential candidates to obtain forms.

Meanwhile  Engr. Mafe, Pastor Nureni Alabi, immediate past Vice President and Builder Yemi Osinbajo, immediate past secretary of the alumni  were also in attendance. Also, Mrs. Yetunde Situ, a member of board, lauded the committee

What you need to know about TUNJI MAKINDE

Mr. Tunji Makinde is a trained  Visual Artist with whose expertise is  Graphic Designer. He holds the Higher National Diploma from Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, 1994, with a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State.

At Yabatech, Tunji served meritoriuosly as: Editor-In-Chief, Impact Magazine of Arts & Designs Students Association (ADSA); Deputy Editor, Venom Press Club; and Trumpeter (PRO) Jazz Club. At different times, Tunji worked with NTA Victoria Island as Visual Artist; Barbwilloms Advertising as Designs Illustrator; NNPC-PPMC Mosimi as Graduate Trainee; Graphic Solutions as Content Producer and currently Mactune Communications as Brand & Communications Strategist.

He was groomed through the YMCA as a Social Community Worker and Youth Vanguard/Mobilizer. He was District Governor for Y’s Men International (Nigeria District) 2020-2023 and currently the Regional Director for Y’s Men Africa North West Region. Tunji Makinde is a devout Christian and is happily married.
