LAGOS- The Chairman, Yaba College of Technology Alumni Electoral Committee, Mr. Tunji Makinde has said that, the Saturday 27th of January 2024 National Alumni Election is sacrosanct, stressing that, all is set, even as he wants all Candidates to cooperate with the Electoral Umpire.
In a Press Conference held on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 at the College Alumni Secretariat, Makinde noted the importance of the Alumni Elections:
“So much efforts have been put in to organize free, credible, transparent and generally acceptable Election for the Alumni Association. As enshrined in the Elections Guidelines, the Electoral Committee has given equal rights and opportunities to all Candidates by screening and verifying of Candidates’ credentials, including the signing of The Peace Accord, which all Candidates are pleased with, promising to abide by the outcomes of the Elections. This is the spirit we all want in this Elections, recognizing that in every election, there must be winners and losers. We charge all to show sportsmanship during and after the Elections”.
“However, as an Electoral Umpire, we assure all Candidates contesting various positions, including registered Alumni Electorates that, all will be done according to the Electoral Guidelines as outlined. There are also mechanism to ease out voting and collations of votes”.
Electorates are therefore advised to come along with their Yabatech Certificates or Statements of Results, the Online Printout and means of identification, which could be National Identity Card, Voter’s Card or Driver’s License. The Committee advised all who didn’t register online not to bother coming to the venue of the Alumni Elections. Only Alumni Members who have registered online would have the opportunity to participate in the Elections.
