ANAMBRA-One of the Nigerian Veteran Actors, Chiwetalu Agu, who was arrested by the Nigerian Army yesterday at Upper Iweka road, Onitcha, Anambra State, according to report has been released after 24 hours with the Army. This was confirmed by Newsflash who quoted the National Secretary, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu.
It could be recalled that the actor was picked up by the Soldiers, who spotted the actor putting on an outfit with the design of Biafra. In the video circulated, Agu was dragged and manhandled by the Soldiers, who later defended their action, saying that the actor was constituting public disturbance and promoting a separatist’s group.
Meanwhile, in another viral video after his arrest, Chiwetalu Agu said that he was giving arms to the less privilege ones, not causing public disturbance as alleged by the Army, not inciting people to join Biafra and his dress’s signs were sun rise ,not Biafra logo.
“What I’m wearing is a civil dress. This is not Biafran wear it is a rising sun and not an Eastern Security Outfit, ESN. I know where to go with this outfit. This sun on the dress I’m wearing is just a rising sun because I believe I must rise. I was sharing bread when they came to arrest me, I was not organising any demonstration. Is it wrong to feed the hungry Nigerians?”
