OROGUN-The Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has reiterated the need for young people to be productively engaged in positive ventures, especially as it concerns social media and its opportunities. Noting however, that social media when used properly creates wealth. He stated this today through his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. (Chief) Monday Itoghor when he declared the training opened at Aragba-Orogun in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.
Omo-Agege urged Orogun youths to be ambassadors of creativity and innovation. His statement: “I am pleased to be part of this training programme aimed at improving and sharpening the knowledge and skills of selected youths in social, digital and print media. There is no doubt that this is in line with my agenda in the area of human capital development, skills acquisition and vocational training”
“Social media has become very vibrant and almost taking over from conventional media. This training is, therefore, very germane as it will help you develop skills that will enable you to use social media platforms in a way that builds and enhances your capacity to create wealth. The training should provide you with the opportunity to take advantage of the different specializations in social media marketing, virtual assistant services, and digital communication services for self-published authors, among others”
Also, the DSP, hinted that, there are a lot of prospects in the digital or social media, and asked the youths to use their laptops, smartphones and others for the good of humanity rather than for negative purposes. “The critical question is, what do you do with your laptops and your smartphones? With the advancement of technology most people now use a smartphone with either an iOS or Android enabled operating system. It is possible to earn money just by using your laptops and smartphone. People around the world are earning cash which is called, mobile money through different methods, from paid surveys, making money with YouTube and so on. I assure you all that this training will expose you to a wide range of opportunities available globally in digital media marketing” However, be mindful that as aspiring media practitioners, you should be equipped with a clear knowledge and understanding of what is right or wrong and be guided by laid down rules and regulations. I, therefore, urge all participants to seize the opportunity of this training to seek clarifications on all issues”
.Omo-Agege commended Mark C. Orgu, one of his aides and the facilitator for his foresight in organizing the trainin. “I also thank Afrikanwatch Network for their collaboration. I encourage other Aides, well-meaning individuals and organizations, public or private, to initiate ways of identifying with the people by attending to their needs. No sacrifice is too much in addressing the needs of our people among whom we live. I am sure that at the end of this training programme, participants would have gained something new that is capable of re-inventing their orientation in the use of social, digital and print media”
