ABUJA – Deputy President of the Senate, Senator (Barr) Ovie Omo-Agege has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment of Major General Leo Irabor as the Chief of Defence Staff. Omo-Agege in a statement through his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, expressed deep appreciation to Mr. President for the appointment, noting however, that the Delta born officer, who hails from Ika South of the State has proven his worth as a competent and reliable personnel with wealth of experience and technical know-how in combating crimes. The Deputy President therefore bestowed confidence on Irabor and congratulated him:
“I join other Nigerians in congratulating you on your recent elevation as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). “Without question, your towering achievements in the military from Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Force Commander Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Chad Basin Area, Chief of Defence, Training and Operations (CDTOP) at the Defence Headquarters clearly justify your appointment as that which aptly fits the description of putting a round peg in a round hole,” he concluded.
It could be recall that, until Gen. Irabor’s appointment, he was the Chief of Defence, Training and Operations (CDTOP) at the Defence Headquarters and Theatre Commander of ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’, North-East Nigeria as well as Force Commander Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Chad Basin Area.
