Report reaching Afrikanwatch Network indicates that Authorities in Mauritian had carried out 654 PCR test on Monday April 12 and all were negative. The report further stated that, no positive case of covid-19 were recorded. This was according to the Information provided by the minister of health, Dr. Kailesh Jagutpal, during a press briefing of the national communication committee on covid-19. However, according to the Minister, in the past 24 hours, 1,025 PCR test have been performed. Since March 5, 2021, the country has recorded 561 positive case for covid-19. Ten patients have died, including five attributed to covid-19. 207 patients are considered to be cured. The Country now currently have 344 active cases of covid-19. 1,829 people are currently in quarantine.
It could be recalled that Mauritian government had imposed a nationwide lockdown till April 30, where it will elapse and ordered that educational Institutions and nonessential businesses remain closed but gave consensus that filling stations,, and supermarkets, Pharmacies, retail distribution chains, airports, and seaports should operate while adhere strictly to Covid-19 protocols.
Meanwhile, Gardaworld news was quoted as saying that the government insisted that during this lockdown, all commercial flights remain suspended till mid-April, clarifying that, all suspension prohibits travelers from entering or transiting the Republic of Mauritius. “Flights departing Mauritius are not impacted. Approved travelers to Mauritius must present a negative result from a Covid-19 test taken no more than seven days before arrival in the country. Upon entering Mauritius, travelers must also take at least three Covid-19 tests-one on arrival, a second one day seven of their stay, and the third test on the day 14. Travelers who test positive will be transferred to a government-run medical facility.
