Buhari-Atiku, who wears the crown

By Angel James, February 11, 2019, news/comments

KANO-Speaking on why the Northern Stakeholders Forum, NSF, decided to draw support for the  presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President, and refused the endorsement of the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari was given recently by Aminu Adam, Director, Action and mobilization of NSF in a town hall zonal  meeting at Mambayya House in Kano, stressing that Nigerians are highly disappointed, and the north are highly ashamed of President Buhari’s leadership style. He however stressed that they were among the youths, who coordinated a protest in United States of America, when they suspected rigging by PDP in 2015 elections, which suddenly showed that Buhari had an edge over Dr Goodluck Jonathan. “As at that time in 2915, we urged the international communities to pay more attention to the polls, which gave Buhari victory in the end”.

“Now, Buhari came to power, we realised that he had failed to fulfill his campaign promises, especially in the area of fighting corruption, economy and security. In 2015, we fully supported Buhari because we believed he was the only person to move northern Nigeria forward. This is because we see that north is lagging behind in terms of development. “Ironically, when Buhari came to power, we realised that he even prefers south to the north that gave him unprecedented votes. Buhari has failed to fulfil his campaign promises, especially in the areas of economy, corruption and security”

“Look at how killings are becoming the order of the day. People of Zamfara have turned to refugees as a result of incessant killings. Likewise Katsina, Kaduna, Taraba, Benue states and other places”

Continuing, The NSF director further said. “That is why we have now decided to try Atiku Abubakar because we believe in his integrity and compassion for the masses. We also believe in his ability to perform better than Buhari.”

Meanwhile, In his remarks, special guest at the occasion, Alhaji Nastura Nasir Sharif, noted that Buhari  has compromised his promises to Nigerians, therefore, deserve not a second term, he is not a man of his words. He says, he is fighting corruption, but we know, it is a selective corruption and he surrounds himself with corrupt politicians who have cases at Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.  Sharif further noted that, with the current situation, a right thinking person would support Atiku, looking at the antecedent of President Buhari
