The Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps (NAOC) has made Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, as partner in the areas of polymer, textile and printing.

This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the Force to the Polytechnic ,led by its Commander, Major General Jonathan Ugwuoke, alongside with other military officers.

At the visit, Gen. Ugwuoke said that NAOC is saddled with the responsibility of providing technical support to the defense Armed Forces in the areas of procurement, storage and distribution of army uniforms, including inspections, maintenance, repair and disposal of all items of the Nigerian Army related equipment.

He stressed however, that for quality assurance and sustenance of the Force uniforms’ standard, NAOC had to look inward towards sourcing for materials locally produced by indigenous manufacturers for supply in order to boost the Country’s economy. The samples of the materials, he said, are being sent to the College Polymer and Textile Department for quality control and result , pin pointing, that, such will guide the Corps in awarding the contract for supplies.

The General declared that Yaba College of Technology is now being cultivated to produce and supply the uniforms of the Nigerian Army all over the federation having certified the endorsed quality and standard set up by the Nigerian army. The Force is ready to create robust relations with the College, he stressed.

Continuing, the NAOC Commander reiterated the need for expansion of partnership with the College especially in the School of Art Design and Printing (SADP) for printing of the Nigerian Army forms, schools’ note books and exercise books for the primary and secondary schools of the Nigerian Army.

Meanwhile, in his response, the Rector of the College, Engr. (Dr) Ibraheem Abdul, being represented by the Deputy Rector Administration, Mr. Uduak Iyang-Udoh expressed gratitude, noting that the College is known for good product with an excellent capacity building while acknowledging the importance of the partnership. He said, the College prepares its undergraduates for productivity in industries whether within or outside the country. He thanked the Military officers for having confidence in the College ability.
