As Nigeria’s February 16 presidential elections draw near, a total of 72 candidates’ names have released by the Country’s electoral body, Independent Electoral Commission, INEC. This the body said on yesterday, Thursday.

According to INEC, the list released include aspirants and their vice-presidential candidates, including other aspirants for the senatorial and House of Representatives positions. This year’s election, only 82 million people registered to participate in the elections.
However, political watchers say, if care is not taken with the way politicians are going, doom may loom in the sixth election since Nigeria’s return to multi-party rule in 1999. Despite the crowded field, the race is largely believed to be between incumbent Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar, a former vice-president.
