Excerpts
Sir, your experience so far
First, art is life, and it could very rewarding financially. For me, art is a passion and I am fulfilled in it because I have been able to pass the knowledge and message of art across to the next generation. So, it is actually very rewarding and beneficial especially when you put in all your best.
What has been your greatest challenge as an artist?
Training and improving on already built capacity could be very tasking, and sometimes, you feel reluctant to this. So, I knew I needed to improve myself and think above my contemporaries. This gave me the motivation to have my Doctorate degree. It then boasted my profile in the College. So that alone influenced me to know that, if you want to teach anybody, then, you must be an authority in that area. In all, I was never carried away by the affluence the profession brings but I was much focused and patient till I rose to the top.
About the coming exhibition taking place on Saturday and Sunday, what do you aim to achieve as an individual.
This is a major solo exhibition and I want to tell the world that, ‘what you have sent me, I have delivered. To the glory of God, I have done some workshops outside this country as a means of contributing to global art and culture.
The exhibition is a sign that am returning back to the studio, to project memories, and restore vision. But it doesn’t stop there, as it goes beyond the vision. So when I do this, I want to make sure that they will be people watching and they want to emulate and it is very good to emulate good things. This is part of nation building and development.. So these are some of the things that prompted me to do this show. Now, for anyone that wants to come into the industry should know that training is a must and after that, you have to be hardworking, patient and be sincere with all your works.
