A third republic Senator, Prof. David Iornem, has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore the confidence of Nigerians by rethink how his government should reposition the economy of the country, hinting that the current hardship, if not tackled, may led to unprecedented effect, as citizens continue to wallow in poverty. Prof. Iornem wants Tinubu to know that, every action has repercussion.
“President Tinubu should rethink the consequence of the economic hardship, because, if he thinks well, he will be able to manage the current bad shape of the country”. The Ex-Lawmaker insisted, that the removal of fuel subsidy, which is for the good interest of the country but, it is now clear that Mr. President did not do deep planning or thinking of the consequence of fuel subsidy removal. That is what we all face now.
Prof. Iornem also put the blame of the economic adversity on corruption, oil theft among others. Asked if he believes Tinubu have the will-power to curtail country’s challenge. But in all, the president is in charge:
“Once you become the president, you have a lot of resources at your disposal. Although, personifying competence is really the correct thing, and the president has been known to have built people to think, so, he has the capacity to harness the human and material resources. However, he needs to ensure fairness, because most people in the North are accusing him of harnessing human talents only from Lagos, and the western part of the country. Lagos boys alone cannot help President Tinubu over the current economic woe, let him tap talents across all the regions, to save the country from collapse.”
The Senator commended the Senate for inviting the CBN governors, and other Ministers, noting, if he were still in the chamber, he would have done what his colleagues did by extending invitation to CBN Boss.
