Dr. Tanko

By Chidera Eke, News/Comments

Dr. Yunusa Tankospokesperson of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 general election, has said that the nationwide protest by youths is as a result of leadership failures of  All Progressives Congress, APC, led government, stating, that Nigerians  have resolved to self-help, describing it as ‘very unfortunate’. Tanko however berated the Federal government of showing incapacitation , inefficiency ,lack of care and empathy, while leaving  the youths in total comatose and self-help syndrome.

Dr. Tanko further said, even Jobs  that are meant for them are been hijacked politically . Sadly, what the youths hear  is;  if you do not have somebody in the Federal House of representatives, or you do not have a leader or a  General or a Policeman or any of the  so call senior citizen, then, you cannot even get a job. Is that how a country is run?, he asked.

The Fiery Labour party chieftain  wonder how jobs are sold for monetary gains.  “These are the things that push individuals to go into all kinds of unexpectable positions and that is a exactly  where we find ourselves”. Commenting on the alleged Russian flag used during protests in Kano, he said,  it is a case of mistaken identity. It is not a Russian flag.  What those boys were carrying was Nigerian Army flag. Take a look at the armed forces flag which the federal government always place besides whenever the President is giving an address, as the Commander-in-Chief. That is the kind of flag the protesters were carrying, not Russian flag as been circulated. The message is, people are not happy with the democratic settings and are looking for a military coup which is totally unacceptable.

The irony of it all is that, the protesters  gave ultimatum of one month , notifying the government , particularly on the hunger strike, rather than address it properly, FG  resolved to threatening and blackmailing.  Dr. Tanko stated that, a purposeful and right  thinking government ought to have tackled the demands of the protesters right before the deadline especially  the hike in the prices of fuel.

The ace Activist, reiterated, for the first time in the history of Nigeria, the Northern part of the country became involved in a social- economic protest. They have always been in protest of religion and tribe but we have never seen them involved in social  economic protest-that is to tell you the economic situation is really bad.

Dr. Tanko wants President Tinubu to preserve and save the sovereignty of the federal republic of Nigeria while condemning the looting and wanton destruction of live and properties across the country.
