ABUJA-The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari once again has issued serious warning to sponsors of terrorist groups and other heinous crimes-targetting school children and others, stating that his administration would not relent in the fight against insecurity in the country. The President who worries about the continuous obstruction of academic activities in the north wants a stop to it.
President Buhari who was reacting to the current invasion and kidnapping of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization students in Afaka, Kaduna, by gunmen last week Friday believes that soon, the students will regain freedom and will join their families. Meanwhile in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Saturday, Buhari applauded the efforts of the Kaduna State government and early response of the military which led to the rescue of 180 students including eight staff members of the School. He also commended the efforts of the locals, whose intelligence led to the rescue of 180 as at the time of the incident.
“A country which has an efficient local intelligence network is a safer country. “Our military may be efficient and well-armed but it needs good efforts for the nation’s defense and the local population must rise to this challenge of the moment.”
