ASABA-As the Delta State Local Government Area election ended yesterday with the opposition party, All Progressive Congress, APC pulling out, alleging malpractice, hiding of sensitive election materials, results and arrests of his members including intimidation, reiterated  its earlier position, warming that the ruling party in State, People Democratic Party (PDP) may put the state into a serious election trouble and confusion. Stressing however, that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has cheated Deltans by imposing and selecting all PDP Candidates without a valid and acceptable way of election.  A press statement by the party through its Caretaker Publicity Secretary , Sylvester Imonina Esq sent to Afrikanwatch Network earlier today stated that, the act of election manipulation would not stand the taste of time:

“Yesterday, 6th of March, 2021, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State, issued a press statement to the effect that despite the warning and alarm raised some days ago, Dsiec, PDP and Govr. Okowa cheated and made a mess of the Local Government Council elections slated for yesterday, 6th of March 2021. That is, there were elections manipulations to wit; non-provision of results’ sheets and materials for the day’s elections in most Local Government Areas of the State.

Information available to the Party is that there are certain misconceptions about the position of the Party as it relates to the Party’s press statement of yesterday”.

“The Party states unequivocally that the “purported elections” and/or predetermined DSIEC, PDP and Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa activity(ies) that took place yesterday was a charade, as same did not meet up with internationally acceptable standard and best practices. On the other hand, the Party’s states that while it has no problem with the electioneering process of DSIEC leading  up to yesterday’s elections, its position has not changed on the events of yesterday, 6th of March 2021.

On the issue of the Party boycotting the “purported elections” that took place yesterday, 6th of March, 2021, the Party states at the risk of repetition that its decision was due to absence of original elections results’ sheets and total absence of election materials in all the Local Government Areas in the State. A juxtaposition of the “purported elections” of yesterday with the relevant laws shows that there was no elections”

“It is therefore the position of the Party, and the Party urges its Candidates with pre- election cases pending against DSIEC, PDP and whomsoever to pursue those pre-election cases with vigour as they bother on qualifications of Candidates to stand for the elections, as they do not fall within the precinct of the earlier position (the Party press statement of yesterday) of the Party. That is, the Party and its Candidates/members will continue to pursue the justice of those steps, activities and pre-election cases for the good of the Party and Deltans. The Party therefore calls on members of the Party, Candidates and Deltans to remain calm and law-abiding while we strive for a better Delta State”
