A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), JAKIN, has given some financial reliefs to some women for small scale businesses, as a means to reducing the burden of economic hardship in the country. In a short brief sent to Afrikanwatch Network by the President of the NGO, Mrs. Olubukola Adebiyi, noted that the sum of N4.23 Million naira has been given out to grassroot women, reiterating that a nation is built on the basis of small scale businesses. Her words:
“N4.23million naira disbursed to 154 grassroot women this week from Wednesday to Friday @JAKIN N.G.O Business Scale Up Project – 12 weeks refundable micro credit scheme. 69 women received N20,000 each , 55 women received N30,000 each and 30 women received N40,000 each. 5 outstanding groups from Iwaya, Oko -Agbon/Makoko, Sabo market, Ann Barrack and Somolu/Bariga received brand new water distillers and packs of spaghetti”
Meanwhile, she further stated that the June-July beneficiaries of the NGO empowerment to women will commence and, close to 500 local women will benefit “ 300 grassroot women to benefit from June/July disbursement Batch, 146 more women to go! Almost 500 grassroot women already benefitted at least once since Phase 2 inception in August 2020. You’ll be surprised with what just N20K can do in the business, life and family of a low income woman. The testimonies are heart warming. God bless our relentless sponsors Thank you for believing in us. It’s a privilege to serve”. Mrs.Adebiyi concluded
