LAGOS-A Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will chair the Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos proposed fifty billion naira (N50B) endownment fundraising, which will hold in September 25, 2022 in Lagos. This was contain in a statement released to Afrikanwatch Network by the Head, Public Relations officer of the College, Joe Ejiofor earlier today, stating however that, the occasion is aimed at raising resources towards repositioning infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Rector of the College, Engr. Femi Omokungbe has led some of his management team yesterday which included, Dr. Mrs Titilayo Ukabam, Deputy Rector, Academics, Uduak Inyang-Udoh, Deputy Rector, Administration, Dr Kayode Momodu, Registrar, Dr.(Mrs) S.F Oketunj, Collge Librarian, Gabriel Ogunsanwo, Deputy Registrar, Mrs Titi Obadimu, Deputy Registrar, Ifesnyichukwu Amaechina, Chairman, SERVICOM, among others, to paid a courtesy call to the former President in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he officially briefed him about the occasion,explaining the reason behind the endowment. Omokungbe reiterated further that, it has become necessary to address the myriad of obvious and peculiar challenges bedeviling the College, especially in the areas of infrastructural decay, obsolete equipment for teaching, learning and research, and that such endowment will go a long way in reviving those challenges among others.
Chief Obasanjo who applauded the initiative gave his words, and promised to grace the event as the chairman of the day, stating that, Schools should begin to think internally on how to develop without necessarily government intervention.
