By Gbenga Ojo -February 16, 2020, news/comments DELTA-The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has condemned in a strong term, the brutal killing of eight persons in Uwheru Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, stating that lives are very important and precious, therefore, must not be taken like goats and chicken by men of the underworld. Omo-Agege, however, charged the Nigeria Police to immediately swing into action by bringing the allegedly suspected herdsmen, who carried out the unprovoked attacks to justice. He also appealed to the Nigerian Army to fish its suspected personnel said to have aided the killers to perpetuate the inhumane act. The lawmaker called on security agencies to restore normalcy to the affected communities, and appealed for calm. In a press release today by the DSP’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mr Yomi Odunuga, Omo-Agege noted further: “I condemn the unprovoked attacks and killing of my constituents and the destruction of their property by suspected herdsmen. “The attacks on Avwon, Agadama, Ohoror and other communities of Uwheru Kingdom, is one too many. “I call on security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book by ensuring that they face the wrath of the law. “I assure the people of Uwheru Kingdom that this matter will not swept under the carpet and that the full weight of the law will brought on those found culpable”. It could be recalled that last week Thursday, suspected herdsmen allegedly aided by soldiers, were said to have attacked Avwon, Agadama, Ohoror, and other communities of Uwheru Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, which eight lives were reportedly killed, including farms destroyed while many sustained various degree of injuries. |
