BENIN-CITY-Less than 12 hours to the Edo State Governorship election, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has advised Security agencies assigned to maintain law and order during and after the election, to be neutral and be professional in their duty. The Monitoring unit of the Commission made this call when it arrived the State to monitor the conduct of policemen on electoral duties. A statement signed by the spokesman of the Commission, Ikechuku Ani noted that it is with high expectation that the Police should play better role in ensuring huge free election and allow the people to choose who govern them in the next four years.
Meanwhile, Barr. Rommy Mom, is leading the Human Rights Organizations while Austin Braimoh, a Commissioner in the Commission, representing the South-South Zone is leading PSC and had stated” “The Commission has however received assurances from the leadership of the Police charged with maintaining peace and order during the election in the state that every security arrangement had been put in place to ensure a hitch free and peaceful polls”.
