As the 2023 Delta State gubernatorial election gathers momentum, political pundits, prominent Deltans, stakeholders, renowned Urhobo leaders, first class traditional rulers among others genuinely share the idea that Olorogun (Barr.) Kenneth O. Gbagi FNIM is the man with experience, skills, talents, contacts, acumen, sagacity that will give Deltans true leadership.

Moreover, Chief Gbagi is the man with a big heart, capable of transforming the state- if elected as governor in 2023.  As a successful and international industrialist, politician of untainted character with outstanding reputation, his equals will not find it easy.

There is doubt that Gbagi is a hardworking and honesty personality who will never compromise things for any selfish reason.  As a famous philanthropist par excellence, many have gotten succor and hope of the future, so, if he plays his game well, things may work out for him especially with the Urhobo Nation.  He can also capitalize on some of his goodwill as one of the highest employers of labour in Delta State as alleged.

Some years back, I did a feasibility study about Gbagi’s investment and his employees in the state. It was mind-blowing experience, of the innumerable businesses owned by him. These include, hospitality industry, Cinema, paint and sachet water factories, filling station, the Fame Dela Hall, and the Robinson Gbagi Plaza. Now, if elected governor, would he be able to use his business idea to turn the state into a hub of investment and industries to the state?

Although, his investment in Delta is a sign of  love  he had for his people. In this period of COVID-19, Chief Gbagi has distributed a lot of foodstuffs and money to many Deltans through the Gbagi Foundation. Before now, the Gbagi Foundation has rendered a robust humanitarian services to some Deltans which made certain people to say that Gbagi is indeed a blessing to Urhobo and Delta State as a whole.

It is true that the incumbent governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has performed creditably well and he is still performing. 2023 is for Urhobo’s turn because of the agreement of rotation between the Delta North, South and Central. Urhobo which is the Delta Central. The State must be entrusted into competent, transparent, ideas driven politician.

Interestingly, Chief Gbagi, who was a former minister of education for state has kicked start a very proactive consultation before now which covered every part of the state. Gbagi reached out to foremost Delta leaders, traditional rulers, the grassroots and necessary stakeholders. “The endorsements alone were extremely tremendous. Even the former governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has echoed and re-echoed it that Gbagi is the best hand to succeed Governor Okowa. How 2023 will play in his efforts is what May likely surprise people.
