BENUE-The bloody murder of Mrs. Eunice Aghanya, wife of a retired Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibezimako Aghanya, who served as a Commissioner of Police in Benue and Kogi State before retiring some years back has been reported from her Makurdi home. The deceased, according to Vanguard report had returned home from the weekend (Friday) around 4pm and parked her car at the compound where she lived behind Kismet Hotel, off David Mark Bye-Pass in Makurdi town before the assailants had access to her.
Meanwhile, from undisclosed source who spoke to newsmen said that the decease’s husband, Mr. Aghanya who resides in Lagos had tried to speak to his wife on Friday evening but proved abortive as he reached out to his younger brother who stays in Makurdi to assist check on his wife since it became impossible to reach out to her. The source further stated:
“When the younger Aghanya got to the house, Mrs. Aghanya’s car was seen parked but the door to the house was locked. “He had to break the door to gain entrance into the house. On getting inside, he met Mama Aghanya in a pool of her own blood already dead. She was matcheted on the head severally by her attackers. “It is strange that she could be murdered in this manner in her private residence that has a police outpost just in front of her house,”
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent, DSP, Catherine Anene has confirmed the situation and stated that investigation into the matter has commenced .
