Benin-In his short sermon yesterday at Saint Albert Catholic Church, Ugbowo, Benin City, the Catholic Archbishop of Benin, who is also the President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, (CBCN), Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Obiora Akabueze has admonished Christians especially Catholics to renew their faith in God, at this trying moment, noting that darkness can never triumph over light.

The Archbishop whose sermon was televised live on Independent Television, (ITV) Benin City, Edo State, with only three priests and two lay readers without members, stressed that the world is agog with the deadly coronavirus, but all hope is not lost.
He hinted that the Coronavirus now known as Covid-19 has made the world strangers in the land, therefore, no one is safe any longer. “We have lost faith. God never abandoned those who trust in Him, we know Jesus is with us, courage is the watchword he noted.
Archbishop Akabueze reiterated that already, people are recovering, and with trust in God, coronavirus would soon come to an end, therefore, it is our common responsibility to obey government order since measures are already taken so far, victory is sure. Let us therefore stay at home and use this medium to listen to God and renew our relationship with Him; for it is not a sin to stay off church this period of trial, he added.
