Omo-Agege is exemplarily meticulous and aggressive in pursuing his people’s interests, and his political leadership records speak eloquently and overwhelmingly for themselves”

-Prince Efe Duku , April 14, 2020, News/Article

Great leaders build good legacies. This begins with caring genuinely for issues that touch human hearts. Our own Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the Senate of the Federal Republic, is undeniably a leader in this category. His recent kind personal donation of N85,000,000 to some of his most vulnerable constituents to help them manage tough impacts of COVID-19 is in sync with his nature as a leader who cares. His directive that this personal donation must be distributed to at least 200 visibly needy persons/households in each of the 85 Wards of Delta Central Senatorial District WITHOUT PARTISAN POLITICAL consideration further underscores the greatness of his leadership – one that separates party politics from life and death matters. But as it was with even Jesus Christ of Nazareth, some present day Pharisees must find fault with anything that has the imprimatur of The Obarisi of Urhoboland. I will return to them.

Without question, His Excellency Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has a heart that pants after his people’s interest. He cares deeply for the people. Nobody on this earth can convince him that a qualified person whom he (Omo-Agege) has the honour and privilege to represent is unfit for or should be excluded from what he/she is otherwise qualified for. Impossible! He is not just wired to accept such “crap” as his American side calls them. Omo-Agege is exemplarily meticulous and aggressive in pursuing his people’s interests, and his political leadership records speak eloquently and overwhelmingly for themselves.

President and Deputy President of the Senate, Senators, Ahmad Lawan and Ovie Omo-Agege during the inauguration of the Constitution review committee at the National Assembly.

Despite whom Omo-Agege truly is, one is not naïve to think that mischief-makers and his traducers will suddenly stop their wayward labour to ill-define the Obarisi’s good works and taint his good name. Some must constantly display extreme irresponsibility in their denial of the great good that comes from the DSP’s heart and actions. Their default setting is to paint him with a black brush. Their rascality starts and ends with using utterly foolish political considerations to manifest the worst form of ignorance on Omo-Agege’s character – all to de-market him politically. But this is where they are wrong. We have zero tolerance for untruths, and for Omo-Agege, every lie and mischief will be factually answered and given a decent burial. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, it may not be quite abnormal for The Obarisi’s constantly rising political profile to trouble and intimidate his traducers and possible future opponents. It is however pitiable, uncautionable and distasteful for some to be so morbidly worried by his politically productive profile to the extent of now adopting totally unreasonable and false claims in their impossible attempt to bring him down.

So let it be said that those who are laughably, falsely but libelously suggesting under social media avatars that the Federal Government “released” N700M to Senator Omo-Agege but he decided to “release only N85M for disbursement” are merely on a journey of folly. The Federal Government did not give a Kobo to any lawmaker to disburse to anybody in Nigeria. Instead, it is our lawmakers who have donated their salaries as a sacrifice to help the Nation overcome COVID-19. The Muhammadu Buhari is not a rogue one that opens the National Treasury at the whims and caprices of unpatriotic elements in corridors of power. Like many senators and political leaders across the country are doing in this trying time for our people, Senator Omo-Agege’s N85,000,000 is a personal sacrificial donation to lift the spirits of the weakest amongst us in our communities. It is outrightly disingenuous and even foolish to suggest otherwise.

Those who are bent on de-marketing or fighting The Obarisi unjustly should at least engage people with basic capacities in propaganda. The ones working for them now are a terrible disgrace. Even if they resurrect and recruit Hitler’s Joseph Goebbels to man their propaganda room, they will still fail because first, God is not with them. Secondly, we will not tolerate their infantile, evil politics for even a second as far as this Deputy Senate President is concerned. It will never happen. A legacy cannot be destroyed by an incorrect description. Their penchant to always incorrectly describe and mischaracterize His Excellency Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s great leadership will never promote them. They should repent.
