“On the issue of the visit of H.E. Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege to Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, it is devilish for the duo of Elvis Ayomanor and Chidi Okonji to insinuate that peace initiative by both leaders is a political alliance to hijack the structures of the Party in the forthcoming congresses. The fact that both leaders have decided to bury the hatchet for the good of the Party should be an example for other leaders to follow”-APC

The Delta State All Progressive Congress, APC has lashed Elvis Ayomanor and Comrade Chidi Okonji for an alleged press release where the duo accused the State Chairman, Prophet Jones Elue and his executive of handling over party structure to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, OON, because of the State congress coming soon. They also accused the party of arranging a reconciliation between Sen. Omo-Agege and Emerhor to pave way for smooth hijacking of the whole part structure in the state. Meanwhile, in a press release sent to Afrikanwatch Network last night, by the State Party Caretaker Publicity Secretary, Sylvester Imonina Esq, titled :  In re- Chief O’tega Emerhor and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege reconcile… Delta APC calls on Members/Leaders to sheathe their swords, wonder why Ayomanor and Okonji chosen to play the ostrich game, noting however, that while all hands are on desk to bring the party to a greater height, the duo are busy parading hatred and jealousy.  The statement reads:

“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State has been drawn to a purported “press release” issued by Mr. Elvis Ayomanor and Comr. Chidi Okonji, wherein they made spurious allegations against the Leadership of the Party. The Party wants to state without any air of equivocation that by virtue of the Party’s Constitution, the State Chairman of the Party, Prophet Jones Ode Erue is solely vested with the powers to delegate the powers of his office to any validly sworn-in member of the Party’s State Caretaker Committee to speak on behalf of the Party when the need arises.

DSP, Omo-agege and Olorogun Emerhor

Till date, Mr. Elvis Ayomanor and Chidi Okonji who for some insidious reasons, have refused to make themselves available for swearing-in in accordance with the directive of the National Caretaker Committee and/or extant laws of the Party. The Party states that both of them lack the capacity to speak on behalf of the Party as the State Chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue did not at anytime delegate or authorize them to speak on behalf of the Party in Delta State. Therefore, whatever their feelings or the intendment of their press release, was done in bad faith and taste. It was without locus standi.

On the issue of the visit of H.E. The fact that both leaders have decided to bury the hatchet for the good of the Party should be an example for other leaders to follow. The leadership of the Party have always emphasize the need for all members of the Party to engage themselves in peaceful resolution of any existing conflict(s) as a means of strengthening the Party; as settlement should not be restricted to leaders alone. The Party therefore calls upon every member of the Party to be Ambassadors of peace in this period of reconciliation.

On the issue of membership revalidation and registration in Delta State, the Party states that the initial hullabaloo by some vested interest was nothing but a “storm in a tea cup”. As at today, there are no incidences of hijacked of revalidation and registration materials in any part of Delta State. This goes to show that those who kept Delta APC behind in the scheme of things either did that ignorantly or mischievously for reasons best known to them. It is worthy of note that the template being used for the membership revalidation/registration as designed by the State Chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue has resulted in a cohesive and peaceful registration exercise of members of the Party in the State, hence, the Chairman of the National Registration Committee, H.E. Abubakar Sani Bello, the Executive Governor of Niger State keyed into this arrangement for the good of the Party.

At this point in time, the Party calls on all political Leaders and stakeholders to sheathe their swords and make themselves available for peace. Reconciliation is a gradual (means to an end) process. There are no more tendency in Delta APC and we urge all Party faithful to shun such parochial affiliations. Delta APC is one and it is striving to remain one. Delta APC is on the march to greatness. The political antics of those who are not ready for peace and/or move out of their comfort zones should be treated with utmost disregard. There is no better way than permanent peace in Delta APC. Let us give peace a chance”
