Just last week, Mrs. ANYAFULU ANINORITSE. M SOPHIA was awarded with a Fellow, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Lagos campus, Nigeria. It was indeed, an honour well-deserved, having remained patriotic and resourceful in building human capacity in the field of Tourism and Hospitality. Mrs. Anyafulu’s input in this regard over the years have remained enviable and plausible, thereby giving her edges among her equals and contemporaries. This award of Fellowship is a true testimony of her numerous achievements and patriotism to the good of humanity especially in the tourism industry. Her taste and zeal for excellence, industriousness, dedication and focused lifestyle, not just as a family bubbling woman but in duty and performance of responsibilities. These qualities, I have known in Mrs. Anyafulu back days in Yaba College of Technology as a student and also as the President of the National Association of Delta State Students, (NADESSTU).

However, it could be recalled that some years back, Mrs. Anyafulu was awarded, Fellow, Nigeria Hotel and Catering Institute (NHCI), and also, Member, Institute of Hospitality, London, and Member, Women in Technical Education (MWITED). This is due to her commitment and resilience to building excellence and human resources to the development of tourism, education, and hospitality management.

She started her working experiences in the Teaching Service Commission, Benin – City, Edo State as a Clerical Officer,1980-81;  Victoria Hotel, Lagos, 1984-85 as  a Restaurant Supervisor. She later joined Yaba College of Technology, Department of Hospitality Management and became an Instructor (National Youth Service Corps) between 1987-88. Mrs. Anyafulu as an Instructor, took a part time work as a Restaurant Manager of the Leventis Staff Canteen, Lagos Island (Fusby Restaurants), which also lasted for a year, 1989. She joined NICA Executive Guest House Onigbongbo, Maryland 1n 1989, and worked there till 1993, becoming the Assistant General Manager. Her dream to become a full time teaching staff in Yabatech became a reality when she was engaged in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, 1996, as lecturer 1. Currently, she is a Chief lecturer in same department.

Between 2010-2019, Anyafulu held different positions which include,  Head of Department,  Leisure and Tourism Management,   Servicom Nordal Officer of the College Servicom Unit, Director, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) of the College, Chairman, College Independent Sexual Harassment        Investigation, Committee, Member, College Accreditation Committee , Member, College Research Committee, Member, College COVID-19 Committee,  Member, Ad-hoc Committee on Investigation of Request for Processing of Results of Students in Departments After Academic Board Approval, School of Management, Member, Ad-hoc Committee of Alteration  of Marks in BAM Victimization By HOD Business Administration, Chairman, School of Technology Examination, Committee (SEMIC),  External Verifier City and Guilds of London, Chairman, School of Technology       Examination, External Assessor –Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, Lagos , External Assessor – Federal Polytechnic Idah ,External Assessor – (Home Economics) Federal College of Education,  External Assessor – Federal Polytechnic Ede , External Assessor Academic Publication, Kaduna Polytechnic Kaduna, External Assessor/Practical Moderator – Wavecress College Surulere, External Assessor/Practical Moderator Federal Polytechnic Ede.

In the area of Academic qualifications, Mrs. Anyafulu has put in her best with regard to continuous pursuit of qualifications.  She attended the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State  and obtained a National Diploma  (ND) in Hotel & Catering Management, 1982-1984, Higher National Diploma (HND) in Hotel and Catering Management, Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State, 1985-87, Certificate from the Federal College of Education Teachers Technical  (TT) in Home Economics, 2004,  Institute of Hospitality  (Post Graduate Diploma) Tourism (NIHOTOUR, Hospitality and Tourism), 2012 , and Master’s degree in Recreation and tourism, University of Ado-Ekiti , Ekiti State. Mrs. Anyafulu is currently running her Doctorate’s degree.

Journal of Hospitality; Toursim and Home Management (JOHTMAN) Vol. 3. 2012; Comparative Study of Guest Services and Satisfaction in Some Selected Hotels in Lagos and Ibadan. Journal of Hospitality; Tourism and Home Management (JOHTMAN) Vol. 3. 2012 among others. She has also engaged in several community services and mentorship to young people across board, who are determined to succeed in their endeavors. Mrs. Anyafulu has also attended both local and international conferences in recent time. A lover of truth and hater of double standard.

Interestingly, Mrs. Anyafulu loves Singing, Reading, Travelling, Meeting People, Dancing and Swimming. I am not surprised of her fellowship award by the Institute because she has received several awards in recent years. Congratulations!!!
