LAGOS– As Nigeria continue to experience bad leadership and challenges, calls have been made for collective synergy and understanding, as a way of curbing the current situation, even as the country hope for redemption in the 2023 general election. Afrikanwatch Network which has been a force in promoting good governance, leadership, socio-economic development, regional transformation and reward for excellence in all human endeavours will hold her 11th lecture in Delta State on October 8. According to the Editor of the News outfit, Mark C. Orgu, said that, it has become necessary to look at issues dividing the Urhobo Nation, and share ideas irrespective of political or religious or economic affiliation. “ Urhobo Nation in Delta Central where I come from, is one of the fifth ethnic nationalities in Nigeria, and we contribute 2.3% of the Nigerian population with reasonable oil well that gives the nation abundance of resource. So, the idea to organize a lecture titled; The Rightful Place of Urhobo Nation in National Politics and Economy…a direction towards building viable bridges, is timely and very important as 2023 gets closer. The lecture will be delivered by General Dr. Oviemo Ovadje OFR, retd, Chairman of the day, Prof. Rim-Rukeh Akpofure, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Warri, Delta State, father of the day, Prof. Fred Opute, a renowned professor emeritus of Botany while Eminent Urhobos who have distinguished themselves in their various professions will be awarded with the African Gold Merit Award, (AGMA), as nomination for the award continues and will end on September 3”

In the same vein, the Chairman of the planning Committee, Daniel Njienue said that, the epochal event will hold in Warri, as efforts is being put in place for the State Governor , Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege to deliver separate keynote address on the theme, even as there will be a panelist session which will feature technocrats to discuss on how to build a unify and viable Urhobo Nation devoid of hypocracy and selfishness, while Posthumous award will also be presented to the children of  elder statesmen , Chief Mukoro Mowoe, Olorogun Micheal Ibru, Olorogun Sen. David Dafinone, Sen. Pius Ewherido, for the pride and dignity their father brought to the Urhobo Nation, etc.
