ASABA-One of the daughters of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, has tested Positive to the Covid-19, known as Coronavirus and, he and his family has gone into isolation.  He made this known in his official twitter handle today:” Earlier today, Edith and I, received the news that one of our daughters has tested positive for Covid-19. Hence, in-line with the laid out procedures, we are both into isolation for the next 14-days”

Meanwhile, Speaking with the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Olisa Ifeajika, earlier today, on what is the next step, since the Secretary to the State Government, Chiedu Ebie, and the Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu are already in isolation. Ifeajika, however said that the government keeps advising people to stay safe and obey NCDC guidelines, wear their facemask, observe social distance, but people are taking things for granted. “The Covid-19 Task Force has also been talking, and it seems they are wasting their time”.

Speaking whether there will be another total lockdown in the state, the CPS noted that people earlier kicked against the previous lockdown, and it was eased. ‘Now, if there would be another total shutdown, how are the people going to feed. The last one, there was hunger, even with the easing, there is still hunger” he stressed.

Ifeajika said further that, what would have helped the whole thing is for people to obey NCDC protocol, by wearing facemask anywhere they go. “The truth is that, people are naturally difficult to manage. The government cannot begin to flog people to wear their facemask. If you go to the market now, people are moving around, both the buyers and sellers, they are not wearing facemask, whereas the virus is only gotten by droplet”

“People are not discipline at all, no compliance to the regulation, and it has come to the point where nobody needs to be talked to again. Coronavirus is killing people and some are saying, it’s a scam.  And such people will not wear facemask whereas they are dying, and causing other people problems, and even convincing others, that it is scam. Why can’t we continue in this mess? So, there is nothing particularly the government will begin to do to punish people. It is a democracy. We will continue to appeal to the conscience of Deltans. Coronavirus is real, it is not a scam.  It doesn’t know sex or tribe” he concluded
