SOUTH AFRICA-It has become a case of Nigerians killing themselves in another man’s country due to shady deals they put each other. Agonizingly, Nigerians who travel out of the country in search of greener pasture, in most case ends in agony and pains, all because the leadership of Nigerian government over the years have failed woefully in its responsibility to provide good governance, enabling environment and better opportunities. In fact, our foreign friends do not trust our deals with them, sometimes, they treat us like slaves especially if one happens to be in their country. Sadly, the image of Nigeria ,which is already battered, continues to increase in its negative image and retrogressive backwardness.

Now, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),  shows that one Nigerian young man, identified as Tony Elochukwu, a native of Anambra state, was  shot dead by a fellow Nigerian  last week Wednesday.in broad daylight  at a restaurant in South Africa-

Meanwhile, Nigerians Citizens Association in South Africa (NICASA), who reported the incidence through a letter sent by its president, Prince Ben Okoli, to the Consul General, Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg explains that Elochukwu’s death was the recent to befall the Nigerian community, revealing that about three Nigerians were killed between April 6 and  9 at different locations in the South African  country.

His letter reads“We received yet again the sad news of the death of another Nigerian in Witbank Mpumalanga province.“Mr. Tony Elochukwu from Nnobi Anambra State. He was shot twice in the head by an unidentified Nigerian on April 24 at about 2.45pm.” Elochukwu’s killer pulled out his gun and shot the Anambra State-born and sped off in a car parked down the street after none of the Nigerians at a restaurant could tell him where to get some weed (marijuana) to smoke”

“However, a case of murder had been opened at the police station by NICASA chairman in Mpumalanga, Mr Obeji Chukwuma.

Continuing Okoli stressed “This looks like another case of a Nigerian killing a Nigerian. This ugly trend of Nigerians killed by fellow Nigerians is on the increase and is disturbing to our community”

“NICASA is deeply worried over the death and continued killing of our citizens in South Africa. People are worried and scared, since none of the perpetrators has been arrested or charged over it.”

In his reaction, The Consul General, Mr Godwin Adama, condemned the killing of Nigerians at different locations in the country, saying it is a bad omen “It is clear that as much as any form of criminality and xenophobic attacks against foreigners, including Nigerians in South Africa is condemnable, the killings do not fit into xenophobic attacks.”
