ABUJA-News reaching Afrikanwatch Network this hour indicates that Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, OON, a foremost Philanthropist and a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from Delta State is likely going to emerge as the new Board Chairman of the long awaited Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) while Maxwell Okoh, is bid as the new Managing Director. Other names for the board include Bassey Akwa-EDFA, Chukwudi Dimkpa-EDP. This was disclosed by a close chieftain of the ruling party, who pleaded anonymity but stated that the appointments await President Muhammadu Buhari’s ratification as the above names are already in the presidency. Effort to reach out to the office of the minister proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
It could be recalled that last week, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio had visited a foremost Niger Delta ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemukpolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to avert the 7-day ultimatum given to the minister to constitute NDDC Board or face unprecedented situation.
