OWERRI-Sadly, Bruno Uchechukwu met his untimely death few days ago, as suspected hired gunmen, who, some have tagged, to be political assailants shot repeatedly at him, at Cherubim junction, a famous junction in the state capital, Owerri, Imo state, and was rushed to the hospital, where he finally gave up the ghost, as confirmed by a team of medical team. This was according to eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity. The late Mr. Bruno Uchechukwu, until his death was a personal assistant to the chairman of Imo State committee on the Recovery of Stolen Movable Assets belonging to the Imo State government, Hon. Jasper Ndubuaku, a former State House of Assembly Member.
It could be recalled that Hon. Ndubuaku, was appointed by the state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, shortly after his swearing-in, to recover all government properties alleged to have been taken away by the past administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Bruno,, 32 came from Atta in Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state, as report says, that he was the first son of his only surviving aged mother. On his part, Ndubuaku wonder why an innocent young man, should be killed for nothing sake, expressing serious concern over the incident, saying, ‘I was the target, as a means to frighten me, not to do my job”
“However, the young man was my personal assistant. I think his killing was done by some people who are trying to hit me or frighten me on this job and I don’t find it funny.

“I don’t know who is behind it but definitely, it should not be far from the opposition. They have done their worst but nothing will stop me. Even if they hit me, as I am dying, my spirit will keep fighting.”
Hon. Ndubuaku, accused the opposition in the state of masterminding the killing, noting, “ever since the administration of Governor Emeka Ihedioha, came to power, the oppositions have caused series of havocs in the state, I am committed to continue to do the assignment in the state despite any attempt to deter me or any of my men”

Meanwhile, , the State Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the killing, saying that investigation by the command would prove if the assassination was politically motivated or not. “Now, we are keeping our fingers crossed and working on the leads we have so far.”
