9/11 Al-Qa’ida Attack On Us, Hamas Terrorists And The World Apart-Commentary

What is the motive behind any terrorist organization and how does it carry out its operations. First, it is important to acknowledge failure of leadership and ethics of good governance where  citizens  have completely lost confidence in aspirations.

Another factor is the inability of government to keep to the rule of law, that guarantee citizens a better life and opportunities. Without this, no leader can have peace, even in the street. The world need change of purpose, not war of purpose, as peace is priceless. Like Tupac Shakur in his hit song, ‘Change’ , “And still I see no change, can’t a brother get peace?, it’s war on the streets and war in the middle east, instead of war on poverty” What do we have today, war on humanity, not war on poverty.

 Can we not also agree that another factor that drive people into joining terrorist organizations is because of poverty and ignorance.

Interestingly, even in their ignorance, they their intelligence are well coordinated  deeply with organised  strategy, as no one can easily detect their moves. And that is why Al-Qiada succeeded in bombing the World Trade Centre (WTC) on September 11, 2001 in the United States.  Same with Hamas that succeeded in the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel, killing over 1400 persons, others held captives.  Many security analysts are still startled on how Israel lost intelligence and pre-report,  even as Israel is regarded as one of the world best when comes to intelligence. So, what is the problem. It is not a mystery but human inefficiency and imperfection.

While I ponder on how Israel lost intelligence on Hamas, my mind went straight to a retired Senior Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Douglas London, whose book, The ‘Recruiter’.. Spying and The Lost of Art of American Intelligence, am currently reading reflected the problems with intelligence and report,  that every raw CIA intelligence report is drafted in the past tense, noting that, a raw intelligence report cannot predict what will be, and a report does not distract  the analysts or decision maker with  any attempt to do so. Raw reporting has no point of view and is not intended to influence the ready towards any conclusion.

History had reminded us that the decision of former President  George. W. Bush to invade Afghanistan, Iraq, others in search of Osama Bin Laden after the 9/11 attack, was largely perceived as an informed decision  of Bin Laden’s hideout in the Middle East-Arabs.

 During this period, security reports were hike that he was basically at several mountainous regions of Afghanistan and later escaped to neighboring Pakistan before he met his waterloo on 2 May 2011 under president Barrack Obama. Bin Laden was killed by U.S. special operations forces at his compound in Abbottabad. The Question now, can Israel forces capture and kill Hamas’s leader, Ismail Haniyeh, that will give Israel another victory anyway.

In the 9/11 Commission report of the CIA, captured in London’s book, it was said that, Osama Bin Laden had actually sought to execute the ‘’ planes operation’ as it was known to al-Qaida on May 12, 2001, even months after the attack in Yemen against the USS Cole.

“Initially, Bin Laden had wanted the attack to align with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s anticipated June or July 2001 White House operational realities  on the ground, however delayed the attacks from carrying their plan any earlier. Were the CIA to have had agent in Bin Laden’s circle, or collected signals intelligence on conversations earlier in 2001, we could not have said al-Qai’da would attack the World Trade Centre and Pentagon in May or June/July, but rather, as of the time, they planned to do so.”

Like the popular maxim, there could be no smoke without fire, it is all about intelligence gathering, even as human factor- the inefficient, and human shortcoming among others can never be ruled out.

Sadly, the motive of every terrorist group is recorded in the holy book, John 10:10, to steal, kill and destroy. That is the aim of any terrorist group across board, and by extension to maximumly take control of territories, power and wealth, which we saw in the Afghan situation last year.

In an article published in 2016 by Dominic Tierney in the Atlantic, he had detailed the badly and interior motive of the dead Osama Bin laden and the hate he had against the Americans and humanity in general, narrating however, that during the 1980s, Bin Laden fought alongside the mujahideen in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union and after that, he withdrew and  went home to Saudi Arabia,  before he moved to Sudan until he was kicked out because of how he poplarised terrorism there. Bid laden finally returned to Afghanistan in 1996 to live under the Taliban protection.

“ Within a few months of his arrival, he issued a 30-page fatwa, “Declaration of War Against the Americans Occupying the Land of the Two Holy Places,” which was published in a London-based newspaper, Al-Quds Al-Arabi, and faxed to supporters around the world. It was bin Laden’s first public call for a global jihad against the United States. In a rambling text, bin Laden opined on Islamic history, celebrated recent attacks against U.S. forces in Lebanon and Somalia, and recounted a multitude of grievances against the United States, Israel, and their allies. “The people of Islam had suffered from aggression, iniquity and injustice imposed on them by the Jewish-Christian alliance and their collaborators,”

Continuing, Tierney further revealed that Bin laden’s anger was the presence of U.S. forces in Saudi Arabia, or “the occupation of the land of the two holiest sites.

It could be recalled that after  Iraqi’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990, bin Laden offered to defend Saudi Arabia with his Arab lieutenants while , inciting his Muslim brothers to abandon their petty local fights and unite to weaken and drive the Americans out of Saudi Arabia, pin pointed, it was time to fight, destroy and finish the enemies. Today, It is a known fact, that the middle east has remained in pieces, war upon war against each other, making the United Nations more troubles and seems helpless in the bid for cease fire and peace initiative with some sort of agreement. Yes, war should be aftermath of peace. That is how it should be, as it is a product of development.

Now, that Israel-Gaza war has overwhelmed the world with women, children dying like fowl, as Israel bombardments continue because of Hama’s military wing, Qassam Brigades October 7 attacks of Israel citizens who are celebrating music festival,  killing more than 1400 while 200 were taken as captives. Hamas is a Palestinian resistance group, that has  been governing the Gaza Strip since 2007. Since the war began, more than, 10,000 Palestinians has been killed by the Israel military airstrike.

This is even as the United Nations chief affirmatively said that Israel bombings were clear violations of international humanitarian laws. The Country’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to level Gaza until Hamas is completely destroy. Angered by Netanyahu’s statement, Hamas responded through its Brigades Spokesperson,  Abu Obeideh, who reaffirmed the group’s readiness to fight Israel with everything, even to the level of saying, “ Israel doesn’t scare us”.

The gory of the Israel-Gaza war is causing more harm than good on the part of the Palestinians, as casualties in the hospitals are very worrisome. The world was against Russia after invading Ukraine, destroying and killing citizens and the world stood still for Ukraine, now, it is Palestine, the world must join force to persuade Israel and Netanyahu’s to stop the killings since efforts are in place by the Arabs countries to allow Hamas release other captives.

The US, because of its Invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq in search of Bin laden,  are been cautious of their advise whether Israel should cease fire or not, but President Biden had earlier stated that Israel has the right to defend itself, and even provided aids.

What is Hamas and when was it founded According to Al-Jazeera

HAMAS-an acronym for Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islamiya (Islamic Resistance Movement) – means zeal. It emerged as the leading political force in Gaza in 1987 during the first Intifada – the peaceful mass uprising against Israeli land expropriation and settlements. It has a presence in the occupied West Bank as well.

The group’s vast network of social welfare activities, including food distribution during Ramadan and building schools and hospitals, boosted its popularity over the years.

Hamas was founded by Sheikh Ahmed Yasin as an offshoot of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood in 1987. Like the majority of Gaza’s 2.3 million people, Yasin was a refugee from 1948 – the year Israel was declared a state. More than 750,000 Palestinians were ethnically cleansed by Jewish militias from their homes in what is now Israel.

The Hamas leader defended Palestinian rights to armed resistance against Israeli occupation of Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem and was critical of the Palestinian Authority (PA) for renouncing armed resistance. The PA governs the occupied West Bank.

A mass Palestinian uprising erupted in 2000, known as the second Intifada, after then-Israeli politician Ariel Sharon made a provocative visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound – Islam’s third holiest site – where Jewish prayers are not allowed. Israeli settlers want to demolish the mosque and build a Jewish temple.

Israel cracked down on protesters, often using lethal military tactics, including assassinations of Palestinian leaders, triggering more violence.

In 2003, Yasin called for ceasefire talks on the condition that Israel withdraw from the Palestinian territories based on the 1967 borders and stop assassinating resistance leaders.

On March 22, 2004, he was assasinated  at the age of 67 by the Israeli military while emerging out of a mosque in Gaza City following fajr (dawn) prayers. Yasin’s deputy, Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi, took over the reins of Hamas following his assassination.

Over the years, Hamas’s grip on Gaza tightened as the 1993 Oslo Accord signed between Palestinians and Israel failed to realise the Palestinian aspirations of a sovereign state. The Palestinian group accused Israel of using the deal to expand illegal settlements on territories occupied in 1967.

In 2006, the group won parliamentary elections in Gaza and took over the reins of the Palestinian enclave in 2007. Israel imposed a blockade on the enclave after Hamas took power. Ismail Haniyeh has led the political wing of Hamas since he took over Khaled Meshaal in 2017.
