N9.8 Billion has been proposed by the Nigerian Police Force on Security equipment, as N1.6bn will go for vehicle fuel, while N309.8m is to fuel generator in the 2022 budget.

Others include N874.5m-vehicles maintenance, office and residential maintenance- N968.4m, N1.5bn- uniform and other clothing, Aircraft maintenance-N690.9m, Sea boat maintenance-N360.2m, while N100m will be on the ‘loss on foreign exchange.’

Nigerian Army

It could be recalled that from the Budget presentation last week by President Muhammadu Buhari, The NPF allocation amounted to N547.7bn. The sister outfit, The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said that it would spend N699.6m on construction  of Police stations, N400m- construction of public schools, N403.8m-hospitals and health centres as from the proposed budget, the corps seek N172.3m for infrastructure. NDSC total proposed spending from 2022 budget is N110bn.

Punch Newspaper had reported that, the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) proposed to spend N75m on meals and refreshments, N200m on the acquisition of non-tangible assets and another N200m on computer/software acquisition out of its N5.4bn total allocation for the 2022 budget.

In same vein, the Nigerian Atomic Energy Commission projected N25m for the construction of roads while and N728.9m will be used for construction of infrastructure. On its part, Ministry of Foreign Affairs projected N95m for the repair of airport protocol lounges as N150m will go for integrated digitalised system at headquarters and missions.

On the other hands, Correctional Centres rehabilitation will go for N1.7bn. The ministry also had that it will construct about four- 3,000-capacity maximum security custodial centres in Ilesa, Osun State; Jos, Plateau State; Gombe, Gombe State and Umuahia, Abia State, as its proposed cost is N3.1bn. The total budget for the NCS is N93.4bn. In a similar note, the Federal Fire Service planned to spend N106.9m for the repair of police stations/ barracks while N96.6m is for the rehabilitation of fire stations, and N487.3m for research and development. Its total budget is N17.9bn.

Meanwhile, the sum of N44.64bn   has been projected for the military equipment, arms and ammunition. The breakdown according to Punch Newspaper: Ministry of Defence- defence equipment for N 218,041, 734;  the procurement of arms , ammunition and military equipment by the Defence  Headquarters is put at N250,000,000,  N230,000,000  and N244,000,000 respectively. The Nigerian Army to spend N241, 172,260 on construction, provision of defence equipment. The Nigerian Navy, N6,892,413,452 to purchase defence equipment and 9,405,000,000 for construction/provision of defence equipment,  Air Force breakdown: The Force will acquire a defence equipment for N25,657,742,046 and procurement of various small arms and ammunition to cost N1,500,000,000. The Nigerian Army also proposed N2,061,903,814 for the rehabilitation / repairs of defence equipment while the Nigerian Air Force have a similar amount of  N7,371,813,303 for  the same project. Also, in the proposed bill, the DHQ  will purchase a  military kits for  N448,000,000, as  utility vehicles will cost N340,000,000. Others which are placed under miscellaneous which include the purchase of corps kitting, transportation fair, feeding goes for N8, 000,000 and N15, 060,565 pinned down for sporting events, even as DHQ noted that it will spend N N4, 499,797. Other projects listed for the Nigerian Army include construction/provision of military barracks for N6,827,304,223, the rehabilitation / repairs of  military/defence barracks for  N6,509,782,567, and the construction / provision of roads for N161,089,054 among others.

According to same Punch, The Nigerian Navy other projects include the establishment of NN Special Operations Command (TO Incorporate SBS, Special Forces, EOD and Diving Unit) for  N3,250,000,000, construction of NNS SOROH Permanent site for 800,000,000, procurement OF Landing Ship Tank for N792,413,452, the construction of 2 X 16 X 2 bedroom accommodations and 2 X 24 X 1 bedroom accommodation for junior ratings at  N2,200,000,000  and the relocation of NNCETT and CIT schools to Ile-Ife, Osun state at N1,018,955,599 among others. On it part, the Nigerian Air Force budgeted 2,617,375,701 for the rehabilitation/repairs of military/defence barracks, N 3,500,000,000 for procurement of various aircraft spares;  1,000,000,000 for procurement of troop carrier and other operational vehicles; N 2,000,000,000 for the construction of offices and accommodation in various commands; N1,000,000,000 for procurement of uniforms and accoutrement  and upgrade and rehabilitation of existing barracks infrastructure by direct labour at N 1,867,375,701.
