Less than 40 hours after a former United states President,, Bill Clinton, puts a telephone call to President Muhammadu Buhari, the incumbent Nigerian President and the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, to assure him of US prayers and support towards having a credible election tomorrow, and wished Nigerians good outing. Same courtesy has been extended to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of the country, who is the Candidate of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by the United States’ secretary of state, Michael Pompeo, who wished Nigerians well and affirm the international community’s commitment to free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria.
Atiku made the disclosure on his
twitter handle on Friday. According to him, “Earlier today I received a call
from US Secretary of State, @SecPompeo, who reaffirmed the international community’s
commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria.” He also said that he was,
“Wishing you all a peaceful elections, wherever you are. God bless Nigeria.”
