DELTA-The people of Aragba-Orogun in Ughelli north local government area of Delta State held her 2019 annual conference. The conference which took place at the community’s town hall under the platform of Aragba Development Union (A.D.U) had in attendance, sons and daughters of the community, who came far and near across the nook and cranny of Nigeria. It was a gathering of purpose and merriment. Meanwhile, Chief Barr. Benson. Ndakara, the President-General of the Union expressed satisfaction over the maximum cooperation of all towards the growth of the entire community, noting further that, all achievements of his administration could not have been possible without the synergy of all.
In the area of insecurity, Ndakara charged residents to be cautious and report unsuspective movement of any kind, stressing that security is paramount for any development to take place.
However, Ndakara, Chief Felix Odalonu, Chief Ken Enwefah, and other prominent sons of Aragba scolded the community vigilante group and advised them to be more diligent in their duty and shun any form of unprofessionalism while on duty. They noted that more effort is needed by the local vigilante to work effectively and efficiently; and later charged them to be dedicated and resilient to duty, while taking useful advice will help them to perform well, as training was later proposed for the vigilante group.
On the area of land dispute between Umuebu, ADU concluded that both communities will continue to toll the part of peaceful resolution and co-existence.
In another development, Barr. Rufus Mmadu , host of the conference, in an interview with afrikanwatch correspondent, said that A.D.U conference is an annual event where sons and daughters of Aragba gather together usually every year to deliberate on the developmental achievements of the community and to also chat new courses and way forward on issues. ‘At this, ideas are exchanged for harmonization’.
“It’s actually an annual ritual and if you are not here to witness the celebration, its means that your Christmas is not complete, it’s as important as that”. Mmadu reiterated that ADU must keep the spirit going and continue to come together as a united force.
Highlight of the events were the presentation of a book by Mark C. Orgu titled the historiography of Orogun ; Divergence in Perspective and also presentation of Almanac of different branches while a new branch of ADU, Amukpe was created from Sapele branch.
